Raising gentle Belted Galloways and Miniature Galloways while using regenerative farming practices in the Byron Hinterland

Here at BROOKHAVEN (home of Byron Belties) we cater for farmers who are looking for quiet cattle with good temperaments.

With some of our calves we do go the extra mile where we calm and quieten them so they can be brushed, patted and hand fed and enjoyed by family members and friends.

We are registered with the Australian Galloway Association and also sell Galloway “breeders and bulls”

Learn a little more about the Minis and Belties

The Galloway family consists of:

Belted Galloways (black, red & dun) both standard and miniature sizes

Solid or Block Coloured Galloways (white, black, red & dun) both standards and miniatures

Our stud has all of these, however with the “solid colours” we mainly have white minis

MINIS

Our block coloured Galloways are nearly all “Minis”. They have very small calves, but all “mini cows” will still reach a height roughly 2/3rds height of standard or ‘average’ cattle. The governing standard measurement is 120cm female and 125cm male from the ground to the hip height.

Ours minis are predominantly white with contrasting ‘points’. The points are the ears, the muzzle and the hooves. The points colours can be black or red or dun (grey/brown).

BELTIES

These handsome Belted Galloways “Belties” swagger through the grasses with their striking white band around their bellies. We have standard size belties and now mini belties as well. Nothing is more eye catching in the paddock!

We totally love the “OG” distinctive black with white belly band, oh so good looking, but the striking reds ‘turn heads’ …and those of you loving a neutral palette you may favour the lovely soft dun colour. We love them all equally and there is no better looking lawn mower!
